Buddha On Management

Posted on April 3, 2015April 17, 2019
The Dalai Lama has advice for anyone in business, hoping to be a better leader:Be mindful.Be compassionate.Be selfless. His Holiness states,“Buddhist tradition describes three styles of compassionate leadership: the trailblazer, who leads from the front, takes risks, and sets an example; the ferryman, who accompanies those in his care and shapes the ups and downs of the crossing; and the shepherd, who sees every one of his flock into safety before himself. Three styles, three approaches, but what they have in common is an all-encompassing concern for the welfare of those they lead.”What’s interesting here, is the trinity of “be mindful/compassionate/selfless” is advice that a good Buddhist would give anyone, not just to leaders.Regardless of their role in society, people don’t change much. The headlines in the news change constantly, the human condition remains. That’s what any good religion will remind us, not just the Buddhists.
